Russia: Beer sales drop despite FIFA’s World Cup
Russia’s beer and beer-like beverages dropped last year despite FIFA’s World Cup, Interfax reported on January 31.
According to preliminary statistics, sales declined to 72.22 mln hl, which is 0.2% less than in 2017.
In Moscow alone, retail sales of beer and beer-based drinks fell 43.7% to 4.93 mln hl, while in Moscow region the volume grew 14.3% to 4.79 mln hl.
Rosstat estimates the nation’s beer output in 2018 at 77.5 mln hl – up 2.4% from 2017.
