Brazil: Craft beer estimated to have grown by up to 30% last year
Brazils craft beer segment maintained a good growth dynamics in 2018 despite the nations economy not improving as much as expected, NSC Total reported on January 6.
According to preliminary data, the output increased by 25-30% last year, not counting the output by contract brewers who dont have their own production facility, Carlo Lapolli, president of Brazils Craft Beer Association (Abracerva), said.
The number of breweries increased to around 910 versus 675 in 2017, he added.
Craft beer thus held around 2% of the nations beer market as of the end of last year and around 3% of it in money terms, Lapolli said.
2019 is expected to show even better results, provided that the economy grows as anticipated, local industry analysts said.
