Brewing news USA, IL: Ryan Brewing Company to hold grand opening on June 29

"Beer is our way to bring everybody together."

That's what Ryan Brewing Company President Todd Ryan said about beer making, the Beloit Daily News reported on June 13.

Ryan Brewing Company, 5312 Williams Drive, Roscoe will be opening soon offering customers a new way to enjoy brews. With some communal picnic tables and five original brews on tap, visitors can expect to get social while titillating their taste buds. The grand opening is scheduled for June 29.

"All five are brand new recipes," Ryan said.

The vision for Ryan Brewing Company is a social one. As opposed to watching TVs and sipping in isolation, patrons can chat, tell tall tales or pull out board games to play with each other.

If interested, customers can be regaled with stories by Ryan. A bit of a bard, Ryan has as many tales about beers as bubbly creations. He can whip out a history lesson on the German Purity Law of 1516, monks brewing in 500 AD or go over the "periodic table of beer styles." He can also haul out the story of his Joris Beer, named after Belgian friend Yoris, and display the bottle with a picture of Joris's likeness in monk's clothes.

Ryan, originally from Capron, Illinois, got into beer brewing back in the 90s when he was in his early 20s after buying a beer making kit. He said it was around the time microbreweries were getting better known as people wanted an option other than the big brands of Budweiser, Miller and Coors.

"Back in the 90s we couldn't get beer like we have now," Ryan said.

Ryan dabbled in beer making on and off over the years, but became more fascinated with it while living in Wyoming and working in IT. He would often frequent Fort Collins, Colorado, home of a bevy of microbreweries he would frequent.

"I would talk to the guys and drink their beers," he said.

Ryan began helping a friend with a brewery - brewing on a five-barrel system on his Friday evenings to help supply a resort with its own beer. The spent grains were often used to feed nearby elk, moose and mule deer.

Ryan, his girlfriend, Nancy Metcalf, and their daughter returned to the Roscoe area in 2015. Ryan continued perfecting his brews. With a history of graphic design and IT work, Ryan created logos for his products and batches of new brewskis.

He named his steam beer "Three0hseven" in honor of an 307 area code in Wyoming.

His five beers which will be on tap include: Kolsch, California common steam beer, Irish amber, Indian Pale Ale (IPA) and Belgian Stout. Ryan also has plans to launch is products on supermarket shelves soon.

Ryan Brewing company will be open from 4 -10 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday, from noon - 11 p.m. on Friday and Saturday and from noon - 5 p.m. on Sunday. It's closed on Monday and Tuesday.

Ryan will be offering craft soda for non-beer drinkers and children in the near future. He hopes to partner with other local businesses such as Crosbie's Homebrew Supply and others in the area.
