Brewing news USA, WA: Orlison Brewing will no longer produce its own beers

Orlison Brewing of Airway Heights, Washington will no longer produce its own beers, but is not ceasing operations. The brewery will no longer produce Orlison Brewing’s beers like Clem’s Gold, Boulder Garden Brown (GABF medal winner), and Shin Splints IPA, the Washington Beer Blog reported on June 13.

In addition to brewing its own beers, Orlison Brewing has produced beer under contract with No-Li Brewhouse for about three years. The brewery will continue to brew Born & Raised IPA on a contract basis for No-Li Brewhouse, which reached capacity at its own facility a few years ago. The Orlison Brewing brand, recipes and business are not for sale and the future has yet to be determined.

Orlison Brewing operates its brewery in Airway Heights, which is just a few miles west of Spokane. It also operates a taproom in downtown Spokane, which the company will close at the end of business on Thursday, June 14.

“The team at Orlison thank all of you, our customers, for supporting us as we grew our brand,” said a message on the company’s Facebook page. “We have loved being a part of the downtown beer community and meeting so many wonderful people along the way. Growing our production facility from its birth as Golden Hills [Brewing] to our current life as Orlison Brewing has been amazingly fulfilling.”

“We have decided to change tactics, and have entered into an exclusive contract at our production facility to brew for No-Li Brewhouse,” said the statement.

According to a report in the Spokesman Review, Orlison Brewing’s production plateaued at about 2,000 barrels per year, which is just one-fifth of the brewery’s capacity. Meanwhile, No-Li Brewhouse maxed out its production capabilities and began brewing and canning it’s popular Born & Raised IPA at Orlison’s facility in 2015. (For a time, they also brewed Born & Raised IPA at Hale’s Ale Brewery in Seattle)

Orlison Brewing’s beers will be available at stores and bars until the company’s distribution partners have depleted existing inventory.
