Brewing news USA, NY: Corning’s Liquid Shoes Brewing expects to open sometime June

Those who enjoy imbibing craft beer and wine will soon have a new option in the Gaffer District, the Corning Leader reported on May 21.

Liquid Shoes Brewing, a small batch brewery at 26 E. Market St., Corning, expects to open sometime in June.

“We have been working hard to get our brews ready,” said Eric Shoemaker, business owner. “We hope to open the brewery in the beginning of June. We don’t have a hard date yet, but that’s our goal.”

Liquid Shoes Brewing will feature small batch beer types including pale ales, IPA’s, blond ales, stout beers just to name a few, Eric Shoemaker said. Dozens of different types of red and white wines will be available, as well as Saranac Soda for those who don’t wish to have alcohol.

Eric Shoemaker said the brewery will also feature some local breweries as guest taps at its large western style bar.

Liquid Shoes Brewing plans to be open 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday, 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday and noon to 6 p.m. Sunday.

Dave Shoemaker, Liquid Shoes Brewing business partner, said construction on the two-story Market Street building began in November.

Construction ended in early March,” Dave Shoemaker said. ’Since then, we’ve just been fine tuning, putting up decor and brewing beer.”

Eric Shoemaker said he decided to open the Liquid Shoes Brewing because he was ready for a career change.

“Brewing has been a hobby of mine forever,” said Eric Shoemaker. “I used to work in education. It was all for the kids and now it’s all for the parents.”

Dave Shoemaker, who also owns a local transportation company, said he is proud to be a part of Liquid Shoes Brewing.

“My brother (Eric) said do you want to do this with me and here I am,” said Dave Shoemaker. “It’s been a lot of fun so far. Can’t wait until it opens.”

Eric Shoemaker said the 26 E. Market St., site was not originally on his radar as a place to open the business.

“We originally were going to jump on the Seneca Lake Trail but we just kind of gravitated to Corning,” Eric Shoemaker said. “We’ve tried to restore the building to its original look. That was a big leap for us. We didn’t know what to expect, what the bricks on the walls were going to look like. Thankfully this is exactly what we wanted it to look like.”
