EU: Barley production expected to total 58.133 mln tonnes this year - Coceral
Coceral’s September report pegs the forecast for EU barley production at 58.133 mln tonnes this year vs. 59.698 mln in 2016. Spring barley production is expected to total 27.745 mln tonnes vs. 30.169 mln last year.
Barley area is down at 12.249 mln ha vs. 12.454 mln last year, yields have declined to 4.75 t/ha from 47.9 t/ha last year.
France’s barley production is estimated at 12.262 mln tonnes this year (10.298 last year), thereof spring barley at 2.502 mln tonnes (2.11 mln last year). In Germany, total barley production is seen at 10.494 mln tonnes (10.866 mln) and spring barley output at 1.833 mln tonnes (1.828 mln last year).
