Germany: Germany's malt capacity estimated at 2.16 mln tonnes
After the closure of a small Bavarian malthouse the German capacity has fallen back to 2.16 mln tonnes, H. M. Gauger GmbH said in their June report.
Graincorp sold its German holdings, Schill, with a capacity of 140,000 tonnes, to Bamberger Mälzerei. Changes of ownership in the German malt industry have been stupendous during the past decades. Today the largest groups are: Avangard 340,000 tonnes, Malteurop 260,000 tonnes, Bamberger 220,000 tonnes, Soufflet 200,000 tonnes, Getreide AG 200,000 tonnes, Ireks 165,000 tonnes, Crisp/Global 100,000 tonnes.
