EU: Malt exports in July 2016 – April 2017 14% below last year’s
EU malt exports of July 2016 – April 24, 2017 are 2.378 mln tonnes in grain equivalent, 14% below last year’s shipments, but only 3% lower than 2 years ago, H. M. Gauger GmbH analysts reported earlier in May.
The largest destinations were Japan (261 thousand tonnes), Vietnam (231 thousand tonnes), Nigeria (128 thousand tonnes).
As the export reporting system is still young and must be applied in 28 countries, some delays cannot be excluded, and the real export numbers may (hopefully) be higher, the analysts said.
